NODA architecture studio supports extension and elevation projects in the Poitiers region, throughout France and abroad. These interventions make it possible to enlarge an existing building, adapt its spaces to new uses and enhance its potential, while respecting its architectural identity. Whether it is a country house, a townhouse or an entire building, each project requires a careful reading of the existing structure, its context and the applicable planning regulations.
Extension: expanding the existing building with coherence
An extension creates additional space by extending the existing building. It can respond to a wide range of needs: enlarging a living area, creating a master suite, adding a home office, opening the house towards the garden or developing a professional space. In a country house, an extension can create a stronger relationship with the landscape, the terrace or the surrounding views. In a townhouse, it often helps optimise a constrained plot, better connect the interior spaces to the garden or bring in more natural light.
Our work as architecte consists of finding the right balance between continuity and contrast. An extension can either take inspiration from the existing building’s architectural language or, on the contrary, express a more contemporary approach. In both cases, the objective remains the same: to create a coherent whole, where volumes, materials, proportions, uses and atmosphere naturally interact.
Elevation: creating new volumes above
An elevation consists of adding one or more levels to an existing building. This solution is particularly relevant when the building footprint is limited, especially in city centres or on dense plots. It can make it possible to create additional bedrooms, a workspace, an independent unit or to enhance an entire building by adding new living areas.
For a townhouse, an elevation requires particular attention to alignments, heights, views, light and integration within the urban fabric. For an entire building, it also involves a precise analysis of the structure, access, regulations and technical constraints. NODA supports these projects from the first design intentions through to administrative approvals, designing durable, coherent interventions adapted to the uses of tomorrow.
